Designed and handCRaFTeD in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland.
Islewear is an independent contemporary jewellery design business based on the Isle of Lewis in the Western Isles of Scotland. Founded by jewellery designer Jordane Symington, working from a small workshop handcrafting designs inspired by the local Hebridean landscape, from precious materials such as silver, gold and gemstones.
Inspired by the diversity of the rural landscapes, from crofting life, the moorlands, to the rugged coastline. Each design tells a story of the land, and of the transient and ever-changing presence of nature in the Outer Hebrides, where the environment can change and evolve in the course of a day. Drawing inspiration from flora and fauna of the Machair, rock formations, crustaceans and coastal plant life.
Featuring natural Hebridean materials that are local to the islands and transforming them in to precious metal, capturing a moment in time and extending the life of organic matter where its presence may have been transitory. Each design acts as a physical reminder that celebrates the often-fleeting aspect of nature in the islands.
Islewear celebrates not only the natural beauty of the Hebrides but also the quality of lifestyle that the islands can bring the people who live there, where there is an inherent love and appreciation of the natural environment and heritage in the island community.
Islewear design bespoke wearable jewellery where you can treasure a small piece of the islands, for generations.
